We care for the Earth when we are stewards of Earth. When we protect wildlife. When we preserve the wilderness. When we ensure water resources. For all of Earth’s inhabitants.
ABOUT US
JANICE DECOVNICK
I began my photography career in 2004 while creating a book of photography, poetry, and healing meditations. I am a psychologist by profession. I started to spend time in contemplation in nature to heal my soul. As I did so, the peace and serenity of the natural world began to flow through my being. With camera in hand, I began noticing how evocative and profound were nature's colors, forms, mysteries, and how passionately I loved it all.

My first camera was a Kodak Instamatic 104, and it became a young boy's magic box. While I no longer have to bicycle down to the local drugstore to pick up my prints, the anticipation of what I have created inside my current magic box feeds my passion for the journeys taken and the journeys yet to be.

Wonder is an experience, but wonder is also a value. When we open our eyes to beauty, to magnificence, to the astounding in the natural world, we experience wonder. When we consciously contemplate our world, a quieting effect takes place. Cultivating wonder makes life easier for human beings. We see with a broader perspective. We yield to a greater reality than we ever dreamed possible.

We center ourselves when we experience awe. Standing in wonder and awe means we are centering ourselves in something greater than we are. Cultivating awe makes us conscious of our smallness while connecting with something far greater than we ever imagined. When we stand in awe of the universe, we understand what we can be.

Gratitude wells up from within us when we behold creation from a place of wonder and awe. Gratitude is something we cultivate when we contemplate the natural world. Gratitude opens the heart to all that nature is, to its grandeur, to its peace, to its profundity and its complexity. When the heart opens, perceptions, intentions, and actions can change. Gratitude is a natural outcome of developing ourselves through the regular act of contemplation of nature.

We are creatures that love and respect from a place so deep within us that we call "soul”. Our task in life is to deepen the soul bit by bit as we encounter our world. When we stand in wonder and awe and experience gratitude welling up from within us, love and respect grow. Love and respect for the natural world, for all of creation, arises. Earth stewardship depends on love and respect for all the living, on love and respect in our approach to the Earth, on love and respect for creation itself.
CARE FOR THE EARTH
There came a time in our lives when the call to the wild became very strong. We had just returned from Africa. We were called to return to the wild with greater purpose. We wanted to preserve the wilderness for all generations, to ensure the survival of the magnificent creatures we had seen, and to ensure that humanity cared for the Earth. Earth stewardship needs economic support. You can help by donating to Earth stewardship organizations that we will feature each year.
Look for our announcements of upcoming projects. We will be donating from the sales of some of our products for fund raising for featured Earth stewardship organizations and projects.
